Day 14

Task: Memorize a new poem or song today.

Remember when we were little and heard a song only twice and could to know every word of it? I certainly miss those days. Now I can't even recognize a song until the chorus starts... haha its embarrassing. So I decided to try a poem today that I read a couple weeks back. The poem is called "Messy Room" by Shel Silversteen (one of my favorite childhood poets):

Whosoever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater's been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosoever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or-
Huh? You say it's mine? Oh dear,
I knew it looked familiar!

Haha! I just love this poem because it is precisely like how my room looked when I was a kid. Memorizing a poem by Shel Silversteen is quite an honor for me because I look to his poems for inspiration whenever I feel the urge to write my own. This was such a fun task today and my family were amazed at my memorization skills. Here's a fun little poem of me signing off:

Take the day as it arrives,
Dream of living better lives! :)
